More Powerful Results with Fewer Resources

In the presentation business, we have a powerful phrase: Less Is More. Dropping out distractive information, words and graphics, makes a presentation easier to grasp quickly and more compelling.

When economic times are tight, leaders have to do the same thing – figure out how to get greater results with fewer resources. In terms of:

  • Corporate Strategy, it means reorganizing the corporate structure to maximize the contribution of each person and business unit.
  • Human Capital, it means enabling each staff member to maximize his/her skill-set and creativity for optimal performance; it also means helping leaders develop more effective teams of potential leaders.
  • Communications, it means mastering the various media options available (including channels and design), prioritizing target audiences, and delivering succinct, powerful and timely messages.

Presentation Excellence's team of experts has worked with clients on such projects for years. Call us with your challenge, so we can help you develop and implement solutions, and present a profitable business to employees and stockholders in 2009.

Also, consider a Management Advance – an off- or on-site senior staff meeting to set corporate strategy and build stronger teams. If you’re looking for a facilitator with business development, leadership and negotiation expertise, contact Dr. Cahn.

Final Presentation Tips for 2008

Over 84% of people (according to a study cited by the Wall Street Journal) report that presentations are either boring or putting them to sleep. That’s the context in which you make a presentation. Therefore:

  1. You have only one chance – and less than 30 seconds –to help the audience form a positive first impression of the presentation you are going to make.
  2. Be absolutely clear about the GOAL of a presentation, before drafting it. Remember, people don't want "just information"; they want to take action – and so do you!
  3. Put wind behind your sail – not against it. Don’t skimp on preparation time. A poor PowerPoint presentation forces a speaker to make up for its defects, instead of freeing him/her to enthusiastically communicate the message.
  4. The focus of the presentation isn't a data dump; it's getting the audience to endorse your recommendation, by making it succinct and engaging.
  5. To overcome the fear of speaking in front of an audience, don't focus on you; focus on the audience's desire to learn. You've been conversing all your life with people; in a presentation you’re focusing on doing the same thing, just a little better because you had time to prepare and tools to support you.
  6. Never worry about leaving something out or making a mistake. Everyone does it at some time. And when you come back with the information at the end, you win over the audience with your humanity!
